Chande’s RAVI Indicator – Part I

Summary

This is Tushar Chande’s RAVI Indicator (Part I) from his book “Beyond Technical Analysis

Usage

Chandes RAVI indicator is a great trending indicator for stocks and equities. Tushar Chande describes a 3% line, that if the indicator crosses over this line, it is considered trending, either in a bullish or a bearish manner. The RAVI indicator doesn’t know the direction of the trend (as is common of most trending indicators), but can tell you that it is a trend. I’ve found that for Forex and Currencies, 3% is too high, so I’ve added an input variable to the RAVI Indicator so that you can change the percentage value. I’ve found 1 1/2 – 2 % to be very good indicator values for the RAVI.

    Hello,
do you have also NinjaTrader version of your RAVI I and II indicators? Or maybe it is easy to import/recode them into NinjaTrader using current format?
    Thanks a lot

    Miroslav

@Miroslav: I don’t have this in NinjaTrader yet, but I’ll put this on my TODO list of things that need to be coded up. Thanks for the suggestion!

I’ve downloaded some of your indicators. They are good. The problem I have is that some of them cannot be installed as ELD because they are .cs. Is there a way to install them into TradeStation? Also is there a way to find out in a more consise manner what indicators do you have that I can download free of charge as well as indicators that can be purchased.

    Thank you.

    • TazaTek says:

@Boris: The .cs indicators are files intended for the NinjaTrader platform, while the .ELD files are for TradeStation.

You can find a complete list of all the free indicators by looking in the archives here: http://www.tazatek.com/archives/ you’ll see a section for a category of “free indicators”. Not all are TradeStation, but many are.

There are no paid indicators on the site at this time, but my personal indicators are being prepped up to be sold in the first quarter of this year.

Thanks for your interest in TazaTek, more great things are planned for 2010!
      Matt
